Resettled refugee women living in Dallas, TX, sew all of the GAIA pillows using unique, sustainable, and artisan-made textiles. This pillow is adorned with colorful haïk fabric, made from vintage shawls used by nomadic Berber tribes. Women would wrap large swaths of this technicolor fabric, sometimes called tahraoukht, around themselves to keep warm and to be protected from the elements. The Asliah's history and hues perfectly coalesce to create a stunning piece for your home.
Each handmade GAIA item includes a hangtag signed by the refugee artisan who made it, along with the story behind our brand.
